WSOP ME Final 9 Estimated Chances of Winning

The 2009 WSOP ME final is still almost 4 months ahead, but we thought it would be funny to put up % estimations about each players chances of winning the final table. The estimations are based on each players estimated skill level and their starting stack.

It should come as no surprise that we ranked Phil Ivey as the most skilled player in the table, however he has severe chip disadvantage and thus in our mind he isn’t the most likely person to win the final table.

Under the players name and % estimation we also have a couple words about the player.

WSOP ME Estimated Chances of winning:

1. Darvin Moon 24%

Darvin Moon starts the final table as a rather big chipleader. Darvin has no prior experience about playing in a high pressure final table such as this one and at least he himself likes to make it look like he is a complete amateur. However, there has been some speculation (mostly joking) that he might actually be online high stakes poker player who is trying to gain advantage by making it seem like he is a complete amateur.

2. Eric Buchman 20%

Eric Buchman is one of most experienced live poker players in the final table. Before this final table he has already made his way couple times to WSOP final table (though no wins so far) and has around $1million in live tournament winnings.

3. Steven Begleiter 12%

According to the reports Steven has played strong poker through out the tournament and thus we rank him as having the third best chances at getting the bracelet.

4. Phil Ivey 12%

Phil Ivey is without a doubt the best player in the final table. However he starts the final with a rather small stack and has only 40big blinds in his stack. However if he manages to gather some chips early on it will dramatically increase his chances of winning. The 4 month break is most likely a bad thing for Phil Ivey as other players likely to improve their game more in that time period than Phil Ivey is.

5. Jeff Shulman 11%

Jeff Shulman is the second most accomplished poker player in the final table. This is already the 2nd WSOP ME final table for him. In 2000 he finished 7th.

6. Joseph Cada 7%

Joseph Cada had minor success during the 2009 WSOP and starts the final table with 5th largest chip stack.

7. Kevin Schaffel 5%

Kevin Schaffel is an experienced live poker tournament player.

8. James Akenhead 5%

James Akhenhead is the European poker player who is more likely to win this tournament. James has been having good results in poker tournaments for years, including finishing 2nd in a WSOP tournament in 2008.

9. Antoine Saout 4%

This is only the second bigger live tournament cash for the French Antoine Saout.
