Vitaly Lunkin Amazing WSOP Run

Vitaly Lunkin is quickly becoming the biggest poker stars in Russia. Coming in to the 2009 World Series of Poker he already had once WSOP bracelet and over million dollars in poker tournament winnings. However in this year’s WSOP he has just added the speed.

First he won the massive $40,000 no limit holdem World Series of Poker event for almost $2million. Then just few days after that he finished 21st in a $10,000 mixed event for $16,000 pay day.

Yesterday Vitaly Lunkin made his way in to the final table of $10,000 pot limit omaha tournament. Even though the final table had amazing poker pros such as Josh Arieh and Barry Greenstein, Vitaly Lunkin managed to carefully play himself all the way to the headsup. In the headsup Vitaly had to face American Matt Graham. In the beginning of the headsup the stacks were almost even, with Matt Graham having a small chiplead. After a while Vitaly Lunkin had crippled Matt’s stack and was extremely close to winning his third WSOP bracelet. Unfortunately for him Matt made the biggest comeback during the 2009 WSOP. At one point Lunkin had 8.25million chips against Grahams 600,000 chips and still in the Graham managed to win the event.

For his second place Lunkin gets around $400,000. He has now already won more than $2million during the 2009 WSOP. We wouldn’t be surprised to see the Russian hit $3million.
