Two Players Left In WSOP Headsup Championship

One of the most prestigious and interesting World Series of Poker event this year is without a doubt the $10,000 no limit holdem headsup championship tournament.

256 worlds best no limit holdem headsup players signed up to play this tournament that promises that winner over $625,000 and fame.

Only 8 players made it to what was believed to be the final day of the tournament, among them 10 times WSOP Bracelet winner Johnny Chan. However unfortunately for Johnny Chan the luck wasn’t on his side in this tournament and he couldn’t make his way to the final headsup. Instead the players who will battle for the victory are John Duthie and Leo Wolpert

Even though the original plan was to finish the tournament today the tournament organization decided to delay the final headsup till tomorrow. This gives us a little time to look at the players who are still left in the tournament.

The English man John Duthie has been playing poker years. He is a regular face in some of the biggest live poker tournaments and has even had some success in them. In 2000 he won the £6,000 Poker Million tournament. As the name of the tournament suggests for his victory John Duthie was awarded with £1million. From time to time you can also find John Duthie playing online poker at PokerStars.com. He is familiar sight in their biggest tournaments and $25/$50 no limit holdem games.

Even though John Duthie is a familiar face in the poker tables, he is actually better known on what he does off the poker tables.

In fact he is the man behind European Poker Tour. In the beginning of this decade John Duthie felt like there was a need for a Europe wide poker series and thus European Poker Tour was born.

Leo Wolpert is a law school student from Virginia. Already before this tournament Leo Wolpert had managed to cash 7 times in the World Series of Poker tournaments. So far Leo’s best result in a WSOP tournament has been 3rd place in a 2008 $5,000 no limit shootout tournament.
