2010 is just around the corner and it is again time for the annual Euro Poker Pro poker predictions for the next year. Hopefully we will not fail as miserably as we did this year, thought I have to admit it is quite likely these predictions will do just as badly. However, to compensate for that I added three Euro Poker Pro related promises after them and we will do our best to keep these resolutions.
2010 Poker predictions:
WSOP Main Event is won by a known player – There is a pretty simple reason for why I think this is likely to happen. The number of “known poker players” is increasing much more rapidly than the number of players playing the WSOP Main Event (at least hope even the latter increases in 2010. In 2003 you had maybe, 10 or 20 well known players including mostly guys like Phil Ivey, Doyle Brunson and Chris Moneymaker. Now we have at least hundreds of well known players, who have either won something big or have managed to in some other way to become famous.
Online poker player numbers continue to rise – I was somewhat expecting the player numbers to fall this year, however even in 2009 the total number of online poker players has increased by over 20%. And I really don’t see any reason for the trend to change. This year we had one of the biggest financial crisis on this millennium and 2010 when the world’s economy is doing better people will most likely have more money to lose in online poker.
Phil Ivey doesn’t win a major live poker tournament in– Even the world’s best poker player simply has to run bad sometimes. Right?
Euro Poker Pro New Year’s resolutions for 2010
More exclusive promotions – In 2009 we gave out around 15,000€ in exclusive promotions such as rake races and freerolls aimed only for our readers. The obvious goal for 2010 is to increase this amount and at least right now I can’t really see any reason why we wouldn’t be able to achieve the goal. So stay tuned if you want to enjoy some valuable promotions in which you don’t have to compete against thousands of players, but instead just only against a smallish group of EPP players.
More poker news and updates – Admittedly we have been slacking a bit lately and haven’t really written any poker news. However as our reader numbers continue to rise we will do our best to write more poker news on top of the poker articles.
More pictures! – Having browsed through the items posted in 2009 I noticed that only around 5% of the stuff had any kind of real picture (not online poker screenshot). This was bit shocking as I’m myself more of a picture guy and can never focus on anything for more than 30 seconds, which is usually enough for browsing the pictures, but only enough for reading the first 5 words of the article.
