In the end Phil Ivey was able to pull off what many were hoping he would do. Phil Ivey started yesterday with a great chipstack, but couple brutal hands in the beginning of the day made it at times look unlikely that he would make the final table. However, Phil Ivey wouldn’t be considered to be the world’s best poker player if he wasn’t able to operate in the high pressure situation.
In the end Phil Ivey made the November nine with a smallish stack, but one that gives him at least a decent chance to fight for the World Series of Poker Main Event title.
One interesting thing to note that relates to his final table is that if Phil Ivey manages to place at least 6th in the final table he will take the spot as the poker player with most live tournaments winning from Jamie Gold (assuming Gold doesn’t win anything big before November)
The chipleader in the final table is Darvin Moon who has no major live tournament cashes prior to this final table. And in many way he is the complete opposite of Phil Ivey thus it will be very interesting to see what happens in the final.
November 9 is the name given for the WSOP final that will played in November and features the 9 players that were able to make the final table.
