JC Tran Wins His Second WSOP Bracelet

Massive 436 players signed up to play this year’s $2,500 pot limit omaha World Series of Poker tournament, creating a prize pool of over $1million. Coming into the final day of the tournament there were still several tough pot limit omaha players left in the field such as John Juanda, Danish Theo Jorgensen and JC Tran. John Juanda and Theo Jorgensen had the unpleasant honor of being the first two players being knocked out of the final table – however JC Tran kept cruising. Tran kept playing extremely aggressive throughout the day and making sure that he was the table captain, this is even though his stack got once crippled when he lost a huge pot to Jean-Paul Philippe. However when everyone else is playing scared and you are playing good aggressive poker it is easy to make a comeback, just as JC did.

After a while JC Tran had managed to make his way to the final headsup where he faced Jeff Kimber. Coming in to the headsup play Tran had over 2million chips against Kimber’s around 1 million chips, and it didn’t take long from JC to beat Kimber. In the final hand Tran moved all in on the turn with a full house and Kimber called with a hand that was already drawing dead.

This is already the second WSOP bracelet for JC Tran (real name Justin Cuong Van Tran), and the first one that comes from pot limit omaha. Tran won his first WSOP braclet in 2008 from a $1,500 no limit holdem event. JC Tran has also won a World Poker Tour event and as of today his live poker tournament winnings are almost $8million.
