PokerNews is reporting that the 2006 World Series of Poker Main Event winner Jamie Gold lost his chips on purpose in one of this year’s events.
Once the money was reached in the even number 56 ($2,500 no limit texas holdem) lost his considerably chip stack during a hand by raising blindly (according to him) preflop, and by check-calling bets on flop, turn and river. To top up this weird behaviour after the river Jamie even reportedly said to his opponent in a cheerful manner “I could have had the nuts”.
His behaviour in this hand has gotten two type of responses, some are saying that it was amazing or baller and some are saying it was totally out of order and very near to collusion (something that is obviously extremely against the rules in poker).
But the real question is why would he have behaved the way he did? Well according to some sources he had a very big bet (almost the type of money he would have gotten for winning the tournament) on himself for finishing in the money in this tournament.
