James Van Alstyne Wins WSOP HORSE Tournament

Less than a week ago James Van Alstyne made his way in to the $3,000 World Series of Poker HORSE event final, and was extremely close to winning his first WSOP bracelet however in the final headsup Zac Fellows managed to beat him. It is rare to get a good second shot at winning your first WSOP braclet this fast, but yesterday James Van Alstyne managed to score his second WSOP HORSE tournament final table this year. This time the final table came in a $1,500 event. And already before that he had managed to make the final table in this year’s $10,000 mixed WSOP tournament, finishing 6th in it.

Among the other players to make the final table were for an example poker pros Shannon Shorr and French Fabrice Soulier.

When James Van Alstyne managed to take the chiplead in this tournament he decided to play extremely aggressively and it paid off. His final opponent in this tournament was Tad Jurgen who he managed to beat after making a small outdraw.

Las Vegas resident Van Alstyne has dozens of live tournament cashes and the first ones date all the way back to 1994. Already before this tournament Van Alstyne had made the WSOP final table 5 times during his career. This victory takes his all time live poker tournament winnings to almost $3.4million.
