| German Moritz Kranich wins World Poker Tour event |

Even though the 2010 World Series of Poker main event is still running the World Poker Tour has already returned from it’s small break. Given that the majority of the top live poker pros are at the moment in The event had a $10,000 buyin and several hundred poker players packed with big dreams signed up to play it. After a few days of all ins and bad beats they had managed to narrow the field down to the final 6 players and it was time for the World Poker Tour final table. By far the best known player in the final table was Phil Ivey, who had already had a great WSOP having won 1 bracelet and loads of money from the side bets. This was already the 9th WPT final table for Phil Ivey and he wad determined to win book his second World Poker Tour victory. Unfortunately for him the young German Moritz Kranich who started the final table with 2nd largest chip stack had other thoughts. And it was Mr. Kranich himself who took majority of Phil Ivey’s chip stack with QJ against Ivey’s J9. Justin Smith finished off Phil Ivey few minutes later we were off to headsup were Moritz Kranich was to meet Justin “BoostedJ” Smith. And it didn’t take long from Moritz Kranich bust BoostedJ and so he could start celebrating his first WPT win. For his efforts Moritz Kranich was rewared with about $875,000. This is already the second major live poker tournament win for Moritz Kranich. Back in February of 2009 he won the European Poker Tour Deauville event for over 850,000€. So with this win his life time winnings from live poker tournaments exceed $2million and make him one of the most successful German poker players of all time. |
